Chapter 12 Making the Persuasive Case at Work . 1. Define concierge persuasion and how it is used at work. Concierge persuasion: persuasion that is adapted to fit a particular person and situation. It is used to persuade the audience in believe what you are presenting is the best. 2. Discuss the following terms and their relationship to persuasive communication: Logos: The ability of a speaker to sway an audience using logic Pathos: The ability of a speaker to sway an audience using emotion. Ethos: The perceived credibility or expertise of a speaker 3. Discuss Brutal strategy and when it works best in the business setting. Also discuss how to use it effectively. Brutal strategy is a one-sided strategy of persuasion that offers the listener little or no choice. You are not offering the audience a choice, yet you want to convince your audience that clearly this is the best approach. You need to make the presentation in a one on one setting to avoid publicly embarrassing or undermining your audience Your ability to persuade your audience lies more with your position of
