Global Warming 15:33 Global Warming Basics It all beings with greenhouse effect. . and, by itself, the greenhouse effect is good.  The problem begins with the beginning of the industrial revolution. When fossil fuels are  burned, what is produced? Carbon dioxide (not just it) 84% methane produced by cows (farting) 12% nitrous oxide, green revolution, fertilizers, application of the fertilizers 2% other gases 2% Feedbacks and Warming Loss of forests = loss of a carbon sink Loss of ice and snowpack = loss of reflective capacity Loss of plankton = loss of a carbon sink Loss of tundra = loss of a carbon sink Increased water vapor in atmosphere = positive OR negative feedback, if ocean is  warm, more evaporation, this could be a positive feedback bc we get more  More humidity in the air, then the air can accept more vapor Increased particulate matter in atmosphere = negative feedback Carbon sink, something that sucks up carbon
