Dana M. WrightDiscussion Board 2- Fostering PositivityOrganizational values are key components by which many companies abide. Unfortunately, “managers lack spiritual leadership philosophy to articulate, communicate, and implement truly meaningful and authentic core values” (Vveinhardt & Gulbovaite, 2017).However, many organizations state certain values and then fail to uphold those ideals in company practice. This was a significant issue with Forever 21 when their Christian values were not demonstrated within company practice (Kinicki & Fugate, 2018). Misconstrued company values can adversely affect overall employee positivity. For Forever 21, problems stemmed from misaligned values, which lead to negative work attitudes. This inconsistency between Forever 21’s desired goals and actual results was likely caused by an absence of a successful organizational climate. Increased communication, feedback, and a greater understanding of employee well-being will lead to a more positive work environment.Problem: Employee DissatisfactionForever 21 has experienced a multitude of company issues including lawsuits, OSHA penalties, and employee dissatisfaction (Kinicki & Fugate, 2018). One of Forever 21’s most detrimental organizational problems was the gap between their key values and how they acted on them. Many Forever 21 employees have experienced dissatisfaction and feel as if the have “zero support or direction from corporate and district managers” (Kinicki & Fugate, 2018). The lack ofa genuine company value system directly affected employees. This is because there is a direct relationship between organizational and personal values (Vveinhardt & Gulbovaite, 2017).Forever 21’s key values include ethical sourcing, supporting charities, and environmental sustainability, however they continued to act against these values (Kinicki & Fugate, 2018).
