Amy Bumbaco 1/17/08 My personal inventory is: able, heterosexual, eighteen-year old, Caucasian/white, Christian- Lutheran, upper-middle class, female. I am going to use female to look at the socialization cycle. The beginning: I am biologically female; I don’t have control over it and don’t have any thought about it. The unfairness is there but I wouldn’t have known much about it. First Socialization: The rules and love of my parents instill what normal parents enforce into a girl. They taught that I should be interested in more girl related stuff, and they often did it sub- consciously. For instance seeing my mom as a house mom, taking care of me and my brother but not having a out of home job, helps make me as a child believe that is what I’m supposed to do/be when I’m older. My other relatives also valued me to have the normal ‘girly’ qualities. My grandma wanted me to make cookies with her and clean-up the kitchen.
