FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Janet Richards 205-617-7461 National Alliance on Mental Illness(NAMI) Birmingham and Other Local Associations to Host a Recovery Fair Birmingham, AL, September 12, 2011 NAMI Birmingham in conjunction with the Addiction Recovery Program at UAB, SCATTC, Fellowship House, Beacon Addiction Treatment Center and Rojo restaurant will hold a Recovery Fair at the Virginia Samford Theater and Caldwell Park on Highland Avenue. This event will be held on Saturday, September 24, from 10 am until 2 pm. As part of National Recovery month, the event will feature refreshments, music, and information about recovery programs. Representatives of numerous mental illness and addiction support groups will be on hand to pass out information on how to get help and how to cope with friends and family who suffer from mental illness. The Recovery Fair aims to teach members of the community that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can recover.
