From Sedra and Smith: 6.28*,6.61*, 6.63, 6.85 (neglect g mb and, in part f, neglect the 50 ohm resistor), 6.127(e)*(f)(find A v only) In the following problems model the transistors with: k n ’=0.02mA/V 2 , kp’=0.01mA/V 2 , V TN =1, V TP =-1, and λ =0.01 unless specified otherwise. *Problem 1: Circuit designs like to describe circuits by referring to the function of the transistors. So, they will say things like try doubling the width on the transistor biasing the common-source stage. This problem will give you some practice at figuring out what they are talking about with a medium size circuit. Figure 1: Three-Stage Amplifier A) Which transistor is in common-gate configuration? Common-drain configuration? Common-source configuration? B) The transistors are sized with W/L equal to M 1 =M 3 =20, M 2 =M 8 =M 10 =M 11 =10/1, M 4 =M 6 =M 7 =1/1, M 5 =1/5, and M 9 =50/1.
