English 324 Spring 2011 Questions for Reviewing Documents as G enres This is a complete set of questions for doing research on genres in your future profession. I suggest you answer the questions in a Word document. Save the document, so you can easily transfer your answers to your paper. Answer these questions for each of the three (possibly four) documents you are using in your paper. Note: If an element does not seem applicable to a document, comment on why and its significance. Genre: What genre is this document? What do you know about this genre? Look in Writing in the Sciences for more information on the genre (keep in mind the text covers a limited number of science genres and may not cover your document / genre). Author: Who wrote this document? What do you know about the author? Exigence or “Call to Write”: What motivated the author to begin writing of this document? Is this call to write a recognized response to a typical situation?
