MATH 137 (Section 8) Assignment No. 3 Part 2 Due: 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2011 PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY Part 1 Part 1 is available online at http://mapleta.uwaterloo.ca You do not have to submit this part of the assignment but are still advised to attempt it. Note: Students from all other sections are required to submit this part of the assignment, which is due 4:00 p.m. on Thursday October 6. As such, it may be pulled from the computer system after the due date. If you have any questions or problems with MapleTA, you can write to isg-mfcf@math.uwaterloo.ca Part 2 Part 2 below consists of problems that require written solutions. These solutions must be submitted by 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7 into the appropriate slot of Math Drop Box No. 5, located outside MC 4066: Slot 7: Surnames ending in A-J; Slot 8: K-S; Slot 9: T-Z. If your assignment is mistakenly put into the box for another section, it may be lost for a long time and may never even get marked. You are recommended to copy and use the assignment templates that appear in UW-ACE. Make sure your name and ID number are clearly written at the top of the first page, and underline your last name. Hand in your solutions to Problems 0,1,3,4,7,8,9 below, along with MAPLE Lab #1 , by the due date/time. Your solutions must have legible handwriting, and must be presented in clear, concise and logical steps that fully reveal what you are doing. 0. Warmup problem on limits, quite similar to Question No. 6 of previous assignment, which you did not have to hand in: Give a formal and logically coherent proof that lim x 1 (4 x - 2) = 2 .
