U.W. Orientation Week Easing the transition from Highschool to University 75 The transition from Highschool to University can be a very traumatic experience for many teens. An expansive campus, large population, and daunting workload could be enough to turn away the most accomplished highschool graduate. However, the orientation week organized by the University of Waterloo eases the transition from Highschool to University. The University accomplishes this by creating a friendly, social atmosphere; exposing students to the campus; and introducing students to their respective programs. Throughout my life, I have always been very shy. The thought of going to University not knowing anyone left me sleepless for many nights. However, having experienced the bulk of orientation week, I am happy to not have renegged on my acceptance. The organisers split the newcommers into different groups organized by faculty. This gave everyone the chance to meet people who they would be seeing in their classes. I, personally, have had the pleasure of meeting
