The person I have interviewed is Laurel Miller James, who has been a close friend of mine since Middle School. Laurel works for the Towns County Sherriff’s Department in Hiawassee, Georgia. Laurel has agreed to do the interview and I would like to thank her for sharing her wonderful story with myself and Axia College faculty and student body. Laurel A. Miller James was born October 18, 1985 in Brooklyn, New York. When she was age two, her mother and father moved to a small town in Northern Georgia with Laurel and her brother and sister. five years, her mother and father got divorced. Laurel loved dancing ballet and jazz when she was young. She danced for over 10 years, starting at the age of 5. In 1998, Laurel and I met, and instantly because very good friends. It was in 1999 that Laurel was told by doctor’s that she would never be able to have kids. “I remember calling you after school let out and crying on the phone with you for hours about that. It was always a dream of mine to have children, and let our children have play dates together.” Laurel graduated from Towns County Comprehensive in 2003. Laurel decided to attend Young Harris College after High School and Graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice. She then enrolled in the Police Academy and received her credentials to become a law enforcement officer with the hopes of one day becoming a probation officer. Laurel still has not gotten to that point, and has currently resigned from the task force in order to be a stay at home Mommy to her 10 month old daughter Trinity Faith. Laurel was told at a young that she would not be able to have children. Laurel married her husband May 10, 2010 and soon after found out that she was pregnant. Trinity Faith was born in December 2010, and she is the light of Laurel’s life now. She was in complete shock from the moment that she found out she was expecting, and she still can’t believe that she was
