Later the “law” did not agree with the new data on the orbits of the planets. One could also say that the predictions did not pan out. 10. The advantages of adopting the metric system are: (1) The metric system has only one standard unit for each basic measurement, eliminating the need for many different conversion factors. (2) The metric system is used by all major countries in the world except the US. The major disadvantage is the cost and effort needed to convert the machinery and materials. A secondary disadvantage is the most people would need to learn a new and unfamiliar system.
