ENV 4561 Fall 2011 Homework # 4 Assigned: September 15, 2011 Due: September 21, 2011 The following figure represents the proposed pump stations within a collection system. Each pump station will see the noted flow rate and is sited at the listed elevations. The pump manufacturer has offered you a discount if you purchase the same model for each pump. This means that only one pump model will be used in the design, at various impeller diameters. See the following page for the pump curve. When sizing the pump, you may round to the nearest impeller size or trim the impeller to fit your operating point. (You will need to print five (5) copies of the curve for the homework. The green curves in the Figure represent the pump efficiencies.) Assume that n = 0.013 for the cast iron piping and assume each station has a head loss (or minor loss) of 7 ft. Water temperature is 70°F. See Answer Summary Tables on Page 3 (A) (45 points) Determine the operating point for each pump station with all four stations operating
