1) Compare cell phones and the internet as media technologies, using the sets of terms and concepts from the readings and class discussions. According to the Media in Context article technology, “includes the physical media and techniques, [and] the technical practices and machinery, by which we communicate” (p. 13). Both cell phones and the internet are relatively new media technologies which have greatly impacted and changed the way in which its users communicate and access information. Both cell phones and the internet have essentially made the world a smaller place by interconnecting millions of people through technologies that give anyone who shares the same technological device the ability to communicate virtually anywhere. They have made interpersonal communication easier through new cultural forms of communication such as calling, texting, or pix messaging for a cell phone, or emailing, instant messaging, facebook messaging, or skyping someone on the internet.
