Act One Iago and Roderigo are arguing on the street. Iago is supposed to be helping Roderigo woo Desdemona. Why is Iago so angry with Othello? 1:1: 8-34 Othello passed him over for a promotion and gave it to Cassio .

The two men go stand under Senator Brabantio ’s window and proceed to tell him that Othello has made off with his daughter. At first he does not believe them why? He knows Roderigo wants to marry her.

Iago crudely tells him what? 1:1 110-119 Othello and Desdemona are sleeping together. Notice Iago starts to speak in prose at this point. This reveals the cunning, manipulative and base side of his nature.
