Drama Plays The Rising of the Moon Characters- Policeman A Policeman B Sergeant Ragged Man Plot- The policemen ask the sergeant if they should put a notice on a barrel (foreshadowing). The notice is a description of a person. The person broke out of jail and there is a reward out for him that is posted on the notice. The sergeant stays at the harbor and a poor peasant is singing songs of Ireland. The sergeant who is Irish relates the songs and does not turn the criminal in. The criminal who was the sing is hiding behind the barrel and the sergeant doesn’t say anything. Oedipus the King Characters- Oedipus-King of Thebes Jocasta-Oedipus’ mom and wife Antigone-Oedipus’ daughter and sister Creon-Oedipus’ brother-in-law intent on being king Tiresias-Blind and tells Oedipus he is the murdered. Laius- Oedipus’ father and King of Thebes prior to Oedipus Plot- The citizens ask Oedipus to take action when the city is stricken with a plague. Creon returns from the oracle at Delphi saying that Oedipus must find the killer of Laius, his father, who rests in the city. Oedipus seeks Tiresias a blind prophet who reveals to him that he (Oedipus) is the killer. Tiresisas then says that the murderer is the brother and father of his children. Oedipus threatens Creon for conspiring with the prophet. Jocasta explains how Laius was murdered. Oedipus realized he was told this same prophet and fled Corinth only to kill Laius his real father. Oedipus then learns that he is the ophan that was given away to Corinth. Oedipus and Jocasta finally reach the truth. Jocasta hangs herself, Oedipus blinds himself and voluntary exiles. Oedipus tells Creon to watch his daughters. Othello Characters- Othello-General of the armies of Venice Desdemona-Daughter of Brabanzio and secretly married to Othello Iago-Villian Michael Cassio-Othello’s Lieutenant Emilia-Iago’s wife Roderigo-jealous suitor of Desdemona Plot-

Roderigo is talking to Iago about helping him get Desdemona. Roderigo hates Othello because he picked Michael Cassio to be LT instead of him and he is married to Desdemona. Roderigo and Iago tell Brabanzio that his daughter was stolen by Othello and Brabanzio goes to find him. In front of the Duke and Brabanzio, Othello defends himself and convinces the Duke. Othello is then sent to Cyprus and brings Desdemona. At a celebration of defeating the Turks, Iago convince Roderigo to fight Cassio so he can get to Desdemona. After Roderigo provokes Cassio, he stabs the Governor of Montano. Cassio is stripped of his LT status and is then convinced to talk to Desdemona to get in Othello’s good graces. Iago make Othello jealous of Cassio talking to Desdemona. Iago convinces Othello that Desdemona and Cassio are having an affair. Iago plants Desdemona’s handkerchief on Cassio and tells Othello who vows vengeance on both of them. Iago has Othello listen to a meeting between him and Cassio which confirms Othello’s beliefs. Iago tells Roderigo to kill Cassio but is instead hit by Cassio, then Iago wounds Cassio. Othello kills his wife.
