Rebecca Densen Intro to Education Homework 10/17/11 1. The definition of “not-learning,” is more complex than just a simple dictionary definition. It is a mind-set, to reject learning about a specific topic or subject. It is actively ignoring information about this subject. It requires serious energy and practice. The individual would have to purposely forget everything that they hear as soon as they hear it, reject all teaching, actively refuse to pay attention, act dumb, scramble their thoughts and override curiosity. It causes the individual to be closed off and to limit their experience. One example is to refuse to learn a different language. They can be doing this for a number of reasons: afraid of failing, and having that reflect their own ability, social diversity telling them they can’t any way, and much more. 2. The situation Kohl was in with Barry is an interesting one. Barry is a student who was held back into the 1 st grade because he was not ready for 2 nd grade. He was put into
