Instructions:
ILTP® Instructors use Skill Competency Workbooks as a tool to evaluate each lifeguard candidate's ability to demonstrate
each of learning objectives of the ILTP® Curriculum. The Student Resource SCW must be given to lifeguard candidates
prior to the start of the course to give the candidate an opportunity to review Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). All
objectives within this document must be properly demonstrated by the lifeguard candidate before being permitted to
participate in final practical and written exams. Instructors should laminate each page of this document and attach with
rings; use a grease pencil to check off line items as each student successfully completes (wipe away grease marks and
start again for next student). During initial skills training, including skills practice sessions, the worksheets can be “on
deck” and used frequently by the
ILTP® Instructor. The SCW Instructor Sheets - beta version is also available for use in
this fashion.
Confirmation of completion of the skill competency objectives is documented in the Roster and Course Completion
Management Document (RCCMD). The RCCMD also documents attendance, completion of course prerequisites
appropriate for the type of facility training, successful completion of the practical and final written exams, and credential
number. The RCCMD is located in Client Services on the E&A Website (CARMP: License tab, transmit course; Course
Completion, Courses tab). This RCCMD must be completed at the conclusion of the course and retained on site with
lifeguard licenses, available for review by an E&A Auditor (CARMP). Information not collected by the RCCMD process
about the successfully licensed lifeguard is then added to the license profile for said lifeguard in Client Services under the
assigned license number.
ILTP® Training Centers and CARMP Clients who conduct community course completion courses must maintain a copy of
a completed SCW for each successful course completion credentialed lifeguard. This can be a paper copy of a completed
SCW Resource or it can be an electronic copy of this SCW Instructor resource. If using the paper document, all course
completion objectives must be signed off by the ILTP® Instructor. If The ILTP® Instructor uses this electronic copy, he or
she enters his or her name in the appropriate locations to serve as an electronic signature to indicate that each skill
competency objective was successfully performed by the lifeguard candidate. To use this SCW Instructor Resource as an
electronic document, complete one for each successful student and save as "Lifeguard Name_course date-SCW". If the
ILTP® Instructor chooses to retain electronic copies, each must be easily accessible and made available upon request of
Jeff Ellis & Associates.
