Additional comments on running 1 st and 2 nd order models in Math Research Excel example Did you read the section on page 11 below the Programming Instructions? For the first order, I assume you have put in the date in columns: S P Y G 14 2 3 5 <- made up data-use the data values given on page 10 going from A1--D25 Check labels Check residuals Do NOT check residual plots For the regression-dependent variable put in A1 thru A25 For the regression-independent variable-put in B1 thru D25 To do the second order, you need to add 6 more columns to the data, corresponding as usual to the multipliers of the betas in the model I have given you S P Y G p^2 Y^2 G^2 P*Y P*G Y*G 14 2 3 5 4 9 25 6 10 15 where I have just made up some data where you should use the actual data on p10 I assume you understand how to figure out what numbers to put

Unformatted text preview: in to the 6 columns you have created (for example in the above, I calculate P*G as 2*5=10 and would do this by Excel formulas and then would copy them down and then check that the last line For the regression-independent variable-put in B1 thru D25 To do the second order, you need to add 6 more columns to the data, corresponding as usual to the multipliers of the betas in the model I have given you S P Y G p^2 Y^2 G^2 P*Y P*G Y*G 14 2 3 5 4 9 25 6 10 15 where I have just made up some data where you should use the actual data on p10 I assume you understand how to figure out what numbers to put in to the 6 columns you have created (for example in the above, I calculate P*G as 2*5=10 and would do this by Excel formulas and then would copy them down and then check that the last line is correct....
