Bio 204L Spring 2008 Introduction to Animal Form and Function Homework 6 (H6-10 pts) Due Next Lab (Apr 7 th -11 th , 2008) This week in lab you ran a Muscle Enzyme experiment on different crayfish muscles. Your homework is to write up the Results and Discussion for your experiment, as if you were going to include them in a professional paper. At the beginning of your paper, be sure to include a short introduction that includes a little bit of background on the crayfish, its muscles and the experiment so that your readers understand what is being tested. Make sure to discuss the different types of muscle fibers and how they differ in terms of mitochondria. Why did we use mitochondria as a form of measurement?

When your mitochondrial results are combined with muscle fiber diameter, what conclusions can you make about the overall composition and rate of contraction of each muscle type?
