We challenged them to upsize theirambitions and many went on to make their mark by reaching higher, standing firmer and fighting harder for causes larger than themselves.This is best evinced by three UCSI alumninamely, Lim Yuet Kim, Lee Swee Lin and Suzanne Ling Sook Shianwho recently made theprestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2018 list for their contributions to social entrepreneurship. Working with refugees to run a food delivery andcatering service christenedThe Picha Project, they began in 2016 with zero capital while they were still students. Today, they have sold morethan 70,000 meals to many of the world’s best companies and channelled over RM700,000 to refugees who hail from war-torn nations likeSyria, Iraq and Afghanistan. The three changemakers come from different faculties. Yuet Kim is a music graduate, Swee Lin read accountingwhile Suzanne majored in psychology. By coming together, they reflect the dynamism of the student community and the cross-fertilisation ofideas on campus. Their story is also amicrocosm of UCSI’s legacy of excellence.Teoh Min Chia, co-founder of Project e-lluminate, is also making waves through her social enterprise launched in 2017 with the mission toempower refugees in education by placing quality teachers, equipping vocational skills, and instilling entrepreneurship in refugee learningcentres. Min Chia is from the Faculty of Applied Sciences and to date, her initiative has made a huge impact on the community reaching three
