Ideas of Crimes Against Nature Originated in Sodom and Gomorra o In 200 BC, started having a sexual meaning behind it. Alexander The Great started a conquest. o Wanted to conquer Persian because his grandfather had died in that war. o Wanted to spread Greek culture all around the world and did everything he could to do so. Everywhere he went, he encouraged soldiers to marry local women. o Hellenistic Culture A veneer of Greek culture that was laid over the top of the indigenous, local cultures. Greek culture was admired by people of the Middle East in terms of art, etc. But there were some problems… Most of the people resented foreign control by the Greeks. Homosexuality was quite common in Greek culture. Many Greeks believed that the ultimate form of beauty was the male back. The Greek education system was a mentoring system. If you wanted your children to be educated, and you could afford it, you would hire a mentor to come into your home and teach
