Smart Dust? Not Quite, but We’re Getting There http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/31/business/31unboxed.html? Every ten years, we usually discover a phenomenon in computing. First of course is the computer, then the internet, and now, sensor-based computing or “smart dust”. Smart dust combines the internet with battery technology, computing, and sensors to come up with this new technology. Smart dust are tiny sensors that would placed throughout the globe to gather information that can change the way we see the world. It would be great in that we can see new trends within our world, know when a bridge’s foundation needs repair or work on (so we do not experience a collapse), and much more.
