CHAPTER 1 a. Distinguish between a cell’s content and its format Cell content - What is stored!(i.e. $10.00, cell stores 10) Cell format - What the cell sees (i.e. $10.00, cell sees $10.00) b. “General” format type - makes a lot of assumptions (tries to figure out how what you put in excel should be formatted) is default c. Paste a series of data- Sequential ( i.e. enter 0 then 1 then highlight 2 cells and drag + button in corner) d. Paste a pattern of data- Repeating set of values ( will paste patterns like names) e. Paste Special Options (most popular paste options) i.Values only (to remove the formula from a range of cells)- just takes out number format Paste Value- removes formula******** ON TEST! Vocabulary Spreadsheet -two-dimensional table with a cell at the intersection of each column and row (Excel) workbook -excel files (Excel) worksheet - two-dimensional table with a cell at the intersection of each column and row (Excel) formula - a mathematical expression that uses other worksheet cell contents as inputs to the calculation or expression. cell format - the presentation style(of the value) cell value -the data entered into the cell conditional formatting - format you set is determined by value you set in that cell(if cells/value change format can change)….if cells meets one or more specified conditions, a specific format is applied custom lists sorting (more about sorting in a later chapter) Chapter Review( concepts/features in excel) 1. What is the default file extension for Excel 2007 workbooks that do not contain macros(.xlsm)? .xlsx, macros can be dangerous, can mess up system

2. What is the difference between pasting a pattern of data and a series of data?
