INTRODUCTION Aim: For students to experience a realistic the design process and to develop good engineering skills. Course Objectives: To develop an understanding of: 1. the need for and use of standard drawings in the communication and definition of parts and assemblies, 2. Efficient use of a CAD package 3. creativity, 4. the design process from initial idea to finished product 5. Methods used to analyse designs 6. standard components 2. LEARNING OUTCOMES Learning outcomes are the key abilities and knowledge that will be assessed in this unit. See assessment summary table below for details of which outcomes are assessed where. Outcomes are listed according to the course goals that they support. Design and Problem Solving Skills 1. Skills in idea generation methods 2. Skills in design analysis techniques and layout 3.
