INDUSTRIAL ANALYSIS: The sweet meat industry of Pakistan has been existing since its creations and within 60 years it has evolved to become one of the developed industries of Pakistan. In the Pakistani society mithai has been the symbol for social event celebrations. Whether it is a child birth or the inauguration of a new enterprise mithai is a product that is heavily consumed in all social events. Despite mithai being a symbol of societal tradition its industry isn’t protected from environmental pressures. Like any other industry it is also affected by competitive and macro economic factors. In Lahore, if we look at the structure of sweet industry it can classified, to a certain extent, as an oligopoly. There are mainly four big players that are Gourmet sweets, Nirala sweets, Fazl sweets and Butt sweets. However there are also some small players like Arabian Delights who don’t have big market share yet they are able to sustain themselves in the market for last 18 yrs.
