Decline of Drama Anthologies and Rise of Episodic Series Drama Anthologies were extremely popular in 50’s making them attractive to sponsors But sponsors were uncomfortable with association between their brand and controversial characters and subject matter Sponsors turned away because of this, and also that they were very expensive Found more efficient ways to bring in audiences that were more cost effective for sponsors Rise of episodic series (more efficient to produce and act, and therefore more formulaic) B. Change format of sponsorship from single sponsor to multiple sponsors receiving spots (magazine function) like commercials Networks start getting more money from a lot more sponsors/ advertisers C.
