Memo To:   From:  Date:   11/1/11 Subject:  According to this chart, we observed that there is a consistent decrease in grades after  midterms from year to year.  In four of the five years analyzed, there was a greater  percentage of students who had decreasing grades after midterms than students who  had increasing or constant grades.

As we analyze grade trends by majors, we see that in every major more students  decrease their grades after midterms than increase or remain constant with their grade.  A greater percentage of students for each major had lower grades in the second  semester than in the first. Within every major only about 35% of students increased their  grades while 65% remained constant or decreased their grades. Since about two-thirds  of the University does not increase their grades after midterms, it would be extremely  beneficial to institute programs to reverse this trend.

In this chart, the negative grade trend after midterm grades have been released is  further demonstrated. We observed that a greater percentage of both men and women  of the University had decreasing grades after the first semester. Both men and women  have extremely similar statistics. Since both men and women of the University show  decreasing grades after first semester, a general program intended to increase grades
