Evan Brown MUS 181 – B Andrea Ridilla 31 October 2010 Experience Report 7 Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Non-Diegetic Newly Composed In 4-5 Sentences, explain why you think the filmmakers made these choices. (10 points) The filmmakers made this movie non-diegetic newly composed because it was more fitting. The movie had more of a serious feeling where the characters were often times in intimate one on one fights. In this case, the music was used to enhance the situation. If the characters could hear the music it would be a bit awkward. If done any other way, the movie would be more like a musical and less serious. In 4-5 sentences, describe what happens in ONE scene in which music is used. (10 points) Jen and Yu Shu Lien fight over Green Destiny (special sword). Jen, who has Green Destiny breaks every weapon that Yu Shu Lien has. Surprisingly Yu Shu Lien brings a broken sword to Jen’s neck. Instead of handing over the Green Destiny, Jen wounds Yu Shu Lien as she lowers her sword. She then runs away, into the forest.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
