Hanifa Ayunisa Young entrepreneur EN 102 Determination Have you ever imagined being a billionaire? Being the richest person in the United States? Yes? Of course, it is not impossible; it surely is possible if you follow Steve Jobs’s life. Steve Jobs has not been rich since birth; he is an ordinary person, just like us. However, he did not just sit around and accept his fate to be an ordinary person; he tried to make something different, something unique that could change his whole life. He is determined to reach his dream until now he becomes successful as he is today. Steve Jobs came from a humble family, but he believed that he would success to work with computer. He was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco and was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. As a child, Jobs showed an early interest in electronics and gadgetry. He spent a lot of time working in the garage workshop of a neighbor who worked at Hewlett-Packard, an electronics manufacturer. Jobs also enrolled in the Hewlett-Packard Explorer Club. There he saw engineers demonstrating new products, and he saw his first computer at the age of twelve. He was very impressed and knew right away that he wanted to work with computers. Seventeen years later, he went to Reed College that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of his working-class parents' savings were being spent on his college tuition. After six months studying in Reed College, he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life and no idea how college was going to help him figure it out. He also couldn't see the value in it and decided to drop out. Reed College at that time offered, perhaps, the best calligraphy instruction in the country. He had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, so he decided to take a

calligraphy class to learn how to do calligraphy. He learned about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. None of this had even a hope of any practical application in his life. But ten years later, he designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. Even though he dropped out from college, he still did not lose his faith. He was determined that one day he could be a successful
