Federal Drug Law Enforcement Began in 1915 in the Bureau of Internal Revenue In 1960’s two agencies were charged with drug law enforcement the Bureau of Drug Abuse Control (BDAC) the Federal Bureau of Narcotics (FBN) In 1970’s a serious response was needed. In 1973 the Drug Enforcement Administration was formed.

How agencies combined… Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD) was the first attempt to consolidate the fight against drug use. First time U.S. established foreign offices. Office of Drug Abuse Law Enforcement (ODALE) used other federal law agencies to enforce the drug laws.
