Paragraphs: First sentence is a topic sentence – include topic (portrait of George Washington) and main idea about that topic. Supporting details – 3 or more major pieces of evidence that support your main idea o Minor details – examples or additional information about some of the major supporting details Concluding sentence – restate the main idea in different words or summarize the paragraph (in longer documents, you may not need this for every paragraph, but for a 1- paragraph document, you should include) Format: Paper is usually 8.5 x 11 inches 1 inch margins on all sides First line is indented ½ inch more No other lines are indented in one paragraph. No lines should be short (except possibly the last one) Double spaced (in MS Word, hold Ctrl, press 2) Font between 10 and 12 size Top right (or left) should have your name and the date. ( Some professors like the name of the class too) Top center should have a title (not a sentence) 3-8 words about the content of the
