Rutgers School of Business Business Valuation Spring 2010 ______________________ ______________________________________________________ __ Course Overview: This course will teach students how to build rigorous financial models in Excel, which integrate the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Statement of Cash Flows. Valuation is one important output of the model. Students will also learn how to model Mergers & Acquisitions in Excel. As a capstone project, students will initiate coverage on a company and write a stock report, with an accompanying financial model. The course will also feature guest speakers with Wall Street experience. The class is designed for students seeking a career in Investment Banking, Equity Research, or Private Equity. The class was designed by Professor Ben Sopranzetti. Biographical Sketch: Dr. Longo is a Clinical Associate Professor of Finance at Rutgers Business School, a Principal in a $100 million hedge fund, and Senior Vice President of Investment Strategy and Chairman of the Investment Committee for The MDE Group, (www.mdegroup.com) a registered investment advisor with $1.5 billion under management.
