Lai Yin Win (Christine) En 102 Professor Quaye Fall 2011 The Quality of animals’ lives “ Animal research has had a vital role in many scientific and medical advances of the past century and continues to aid our understanding of various diseases. Throughout the world, people enjoy a better quality of life because of these advances, and the subsequent development of new medicines and treatments – all made possible by animal research ” (Festing and Wilkinson, EMBO reports, 2007). Simon Festing and Robin Wilkinson made this effective statement about the importance of human life which sounded like it is fine to sacrifice animal lives in order to save human lives. They also pointed out that even in some countries, they mended the rules about animal research act of 1986 that it was fine to do animal research as long as the scientists could save lives. The article “ Talking point on the use of animals in scientific research ” is a scientific argument on how these animals help people in multiple diseases and in finding new ways for cosmetic industries. Festing and Wilkinson claim that the animal research has resolved many problems to cure diseases and for the cosmetic products. They said that “ Which do
