BIOL 119 – Intro Human Physiology Lab Syllabus Winter 2011 Instructor: Tolga Bilgen -- tolga@u.washington.edu Teaching Assistants: Jaquan Horton -- jmhorton@uw.edu Zarah Kushner -- zarahk@u.washington.edu GRADING Quizzes: 90 points Three quizzes will be given during the quarter, none will be dropped and no make-ups will be given. If you miss a quiz and it is excused, your higher quiz score will be doubled. If your absence is unexcused, you will lose all points for the missed quiz. Each will be worth 30 points. Each quiz will cover 2-3 week’s material and lab notes may be tested before material is covered in class. Each quiz will include short answer, fill in blanks, T/F, multiple choice, or identification of structures from slides or preserved materials. You are encouraged to help each other study, but cheating on quizzes or sharing information about questions on quizzes is unacceptable behavior & will be handled in accord with University policies. Poster: 100 points This is a team project that will help you develop a variety of useful skills that will be invaluable in any career. You'll learn how to do the following: Organize & coordinate your work with your team members. Respect and collaborate with all of your team members. Divide up the tasks, but share the work fairly.
