AP PHYSICS 1 REVIEW SHEET I. Kinematics Acceleration: change in speed every second, due to change in direction, object slowing down or spending up Acceleration = 9.8m/s^2 When an object speeds up, acceleration is in the same direction as motion II. Dynamics Forces examples: tension, spring, weight, normal, etc. Forces can be broken into components Net force of 0 - not moving, moving with constant velocity Newton's Laws: a. An object at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by a net external force b. F=ma c. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction (force) III. Circular Motion and Gravitation Centripetal acceleration: force towards the center of a curved path, perpendicular to velocity - uniform circular motion (constant speed, constant r) a c = v 2 / r Net force= m v 2 / r This can be caused by any force- normal, tension, weight, friction , etc V=(2πr)/T If centripetal force is gravity (object rotating around earth in space): F=(GmM E )/r^2
