ENGL 134 – Sinclair Fall ‘11 Sequence Three: Public Rhetoric Writing Goals: Write an argument for an audience that you know disagrees with you. Use ethos, pathos, and logos in your own argument. Consider and critique the opposing argument based on claim, support, and the three appeals – ethos, pathos, and logos. Approaches: (Choose one) Choose an issue about which you are passionate, something that has relevance to your life. Write a persuasive paper in which you try to convince your audience to hold or at least consider your viewpoint. For this essay, you will need to identify your audience and tailor your writing to them by using ethos, pathos, and logos with some degree of sophistication. You will also need to consider the opposing viewpoint. You must run your topic by me in a paper proposal. 4-6 pages.
