Impact on employment While the economy is down, the unemployment rate has raised drastically. Most businesses had to lay off some people. They are laying off people and making others do the work times two to make up for it. It isn’t only affecting older people, but students as well aren’t able to find part time work or summer jobs. With people being let go and not able to find other jobs, they aren’t spending as much which means there’s not as much money going back into the economy. With not as much money going back into the economy, it is a chain of economic downfall. They are saying that the unemployment is also hurting the students in the classroom, because it is putting more pressure on them due to them not having a job or their parents. Duke University professors took a look at students test scores and compared scores between students with a job and without. The students who have no job have scored lower with their test results.

Unformatted text preview: Education People wouldnt think much of the economy being down that it would hurt the education and classroom progress but it is dramatically. With the way the economy has been and is now, it is making the classrooms very empty with fewer materials. The schools use to give a school book to each student to be able to take home and study. They now cant afford that and only have a class set. The class sets have been used over and over again countless of times so they are very worn out and hard to read. The students grades are going down due to not being able to study the material as much as they should be doing because they arent able to take the school books home. They now are making most assignments online because they arent able to print anything off for the students. http://curiouscapitalist.blogs.time.com/2011/06/06/is-the-economy-hurting-your-kids-report-card/...
