Data Tables

Allow you to examine how changes in one or two variables can affect other formulas
•
Data Tables are dynamic – if you make changes to the underlying formulas or to the
range of possible values for the variables, the Data Table will automatically update
•
Note that Data Tables are different from Tables that were discussed previously
o
Tables are used to manage and organize large data sets
o
Data Tables are used to for what-if analysis
•
You can use either a one-input Data Table or a two-input Data Table
•
To set up a Data Table
o
Create the structure of the Data Table with the associated rows and columns
o
Provide labels for the data being used
o
Data – Data Tools – What-If Analysis – Data Table
For one-input Data Tables, enter either the row or column input cell
For two-input Data Tables, enter both a row and a column input cell

The input cell is the cell whose value will be changed in the Data
Table
