Running Head: FAMILY SYSTEMS 2 Social systems can be affected in many different ways. In this case study, with the adoption of Michael, it will be important for the family (Andre and Marie) to understand the multitude of things that may be affected and changed in the family’s social system. As parents, knowing the systems and what influences the family can help build a better relationship towards each other when everybody is able to cooperate and commit to the effective ways to handle situations. The social system for the Lauren family was struggling with a big issue. When the earthquake had hit, Marie was worrying a lot about her family until she had found out that they had passed away. She had heard that she lost everybody, except her nephew that she barely knew. After reaching out to her priest, they were able to get her nephew to the states so she could adopt him. Michael, the nephew, was also struggling with trauma because he had heard the news that the rest of his family had passed away and that was all he knew which caused him to have emotional and psychiatric problems. The subsystems in this situation can be risky. The parents need to be aware of the
