Special education graduates are often unable to participate fully in community activities and are socially isolated in comparison to people without disabilities. B. Many current graduates are not adequately prepared for employment and are unable to get help to enroll in higher education. The majority of adults with disabilities are unemployed. C. Adult service systems do not have the resources to meet the needs of students with disabilities following the school years. D. The capabilities of adults with disabilities are often underestimated. 4.2) A. IDEA requires that every student with a disability receive transition services. B. Transition services must be designed within an outcome-oriented process, which promotes movement from school to post-school activities. C. Transition services must be based upon the individual student’s needs, taking into account the student’s preferences and interests. 4.3)
