Unformatted text preview: IE 320: Project Proposal Alternate Energy Resources Group Members: Snehal Patel Gavendra Shah Ankit Kamani Sonam Purohit Sanket Chavan Abstract: Our proposition deals with the advantages and disadvantages of energy production using renewable and non renewable sources like coal, petroleum, nuclear, solar energy, wind, hydroelectricity, geothermal energy and tidal energy. We will particularly be choosing coal and wind as the energy sources for production of electricity. Big scale production of energy these days is done using coal; while the renewable source like wind constitute a small portion of overall energy production. Coal produces energy which is unclean and expensive over a long time. It is non renewable source and hence it exhausts over a period of time. Wind source whereas comparatively is more efficient and gives us a constant flow of energy without it exhausting over hundreds of years. It is a onetime big investment that will pay back for centuries. Wind energy is also clean and is suitable for either cold or investment that will pay back for centuries....
