The clip from the movie Witness expresses many emotions and sets a mood through nondiegetic music, (background music) At the beginning of the scene (0:00 – 2:05), a village of Amish people are getting ready to build a barn and only have a day to complete this task. The music is cheerful and encouraging and provides the viewer with hope and excitement for an upcoming endeavor. Characterization is strongly expressed through the music. These emotions of excitement and encouragement that the observer is feeling are also expressed in the characters. From 1:18 to 1:33 mythification is used when the scene focuses on Harrison Ford and villagers expressing gratitude toward him. At 2:06 the effect of continuity is used and the nondiegetic music becomes more high pitch and sends
