21:52 World war 2 led to another war-the cold war. America decided to remain militarized after  1945 and not to disarm. It kept a powerful military presence throughout the world. The  WW2 alliance with the soviet union broke down after 1945 as both nations now sought  to gain power and influence outside their borders and build more dangerous weapons.  The cold war would dominate American life for the next 40 years Militarization: key word US has kept this even today Reduced man power after WW2, but keep increasing weaponry  Felt need to retain military strength build up in WW2 No more retreating into isolationism Unprepared when Pearl Harbor occurred, no longer Worried about someone else getting the atomic bomb Reflection that we don’t feel as safe as we did before Atom bomb forced us to rearm…and also to think it terms of we have to defend  ourselves outside of our borders
