TH 101 - I NTRODUCTION TO T HEATRE Tuesday/Thursday 3:00 - 4:20 p.m. 97 Alumni Arena Attendance: A sign in sheet will be circulated at each class. Students are permitted two (2) unexcused absences, after which, additional absences will reduce student’s final grade by ½ letter grade (thus a course grade of C will be reduced to C- at the third student absence, to D at the fourth absence, etc.). Students who will have absences due to activities such as ATHLETICS, PERFORMANCE TOURS etc., are responsible for providing documentation to instructor PRIOR to absence. Any quiz that will be missed because of such obligations must be taken by student PRIOR to that quiz being given in class. Please note that the required play attendances (see below) will require students to spend time on class activities outside of scheduled class time. NO “I” (Incomplete) grades will be given in this course for reasons other than medical (or emergency) necessity, such requests to be evaluated by the instructor on a case by case basis. Any student granted an incomplete for emergency/medical reasons before November 5, 2009 must repeat the course in its entirety in a future semester ; conditions for completing an incomplete requested after November 5 to be determined by the instructor. Grading: Grades will be posted on this UBLearns site in the “My Grades” section . A running total of graded work (posted as a percentage) and individual test and assignment scores will be posted. UBLearns calculates grade totals in increments of ten. Thus: 70% - 73% = C- 74% - 76% = C 77% - 79% = C+, etc. The university does not allow final course grades of A+ or D-. 1] In-class Tests : (20% per test, combined test scores total 60% of course grade) Three (3) in-class tests on lecture material and assigned readings will be given in the course of the semester. Each test will cover material discussed and read since the previous test. There is no cumulative final exam scheduled for this course during exam week: our business together will be finished as of the last day of class. Edited versions of notes related to lectures will be posted as documents on the TH 101 UB LEARNS site and will remain posted until the in-class quiz for that section of material has been given, at which time the documents will be removed to make way for new material. These are intended as additional study aids. Students are responsible for checking for materials and communications sent to the course site,
