The purpose of this experiment was to use a spectrophotometer to determine the pKa value of the Acid-Base indicator Bromothymol Blue as indicated in the title of the experiment. Bromothymol blue turns a yellow color in its acidic form, and blue in its basic form. In the first part of the experiment, a spectra was created for Bromothymol blue by measuring the wavelength of the compound in its acidic and basic forms for the range 340-800 nm. The data collected for the acidic and basic forms of Bromothymol blue is shown below in data table 1: Wavelengt h Absorbanc e Absorbanc e (nm) pH 10.00 pH 5.00 Basic Acidic 799 -0.062 -0.043 798 -0.062 -0.043 797 -0.062 -0.043 796 -0.062 -0.043 795 -0.062 -0.043 794 -0.062 -0.043 793 -0.062 -0.042 792 -0.062 -0.043 791 -0.061 -0.043 790 -0.061 -0.043 789 -0.061 -0.042 788 -0.062 -0.043 787 -0.061 -0.043 786 -0.061 -0.042 785 -0.062 -0.042 784 -0.061 -0.042 783 -0.061 -0.042 782 -0.062 -0.042 781 -0.062 -0.042 780 -0.062 -0.043 779 -0.061 -0.042 778 -0.061 -0.042 777 -0.061 -0.042 776 -0.061 -0.042 775 -0.061 -0.042 774 -0.061 -0.042 773 -0.061 -0.042 772 -0.061 -0.042 771 -0.061 -0.042 770 -0.061 -0.042 769 -0.061 -0.042 768 -0.061 -0.042 767 -0.061 -0.042

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
