C HEMISTRY 102L R EPORT T EMPLATE EXPT. Standardization of NaOH 14 14 Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to use titration as a means to determine an unknown concentration of NaOH. KHP was the acid used in the experiment along with the indicator phenolphthalein to determine the end point of the titration. In turn, this experiment gave one a better understanding of titrations, indicators, and acid/base reactions. The purpose of the report is to record one’s results and explain them so one can completely comprehend what was going on the reactions. Materials and Methods The procedure for this experiment was taken from the lab Manual for Experiment 13. A bag of pure potassium acid phthatlate (KHP) was obtained from one’s TA. The contents of the bag were then transferred to weighing bottle and allowed to dry in the laboratory oven at 110 ºC for approximately one
