Overview for Experiment 14 – Chemical Equilibrium Goals:   - Determine the equilibrium constant of the chemical reaction between iron nitrate and  sodium isothiocyanate - Use Beer’s Law to construct a standard curve ( R > 0.98 ) to determine the concentration  of an unknown solution by knowing the absorbance value - Use of colorimetry to monitor the course of reaction and, in conjunction with Beer’s Law,  to determine the concentration of the solution  - Perform serial dilutions in order to establish a standard curve Experiment 15 preparation - Get out weigh bottle and dry packet of KHP (110 degrees C for 1 hour) - Boil approximately 1L of water using immersion heaters for 5 minutes, let cool then place  into PE bottles Overview of Experiment 14 - Preparation of Stock Solutions - Preparation of standards for Beer’s Law - Preparation of equilibrium standards - Calculation of Equilibrium constants Data table 1  - Data table one should detail the raw data for preparing your stock solutions
