However, one of the most embarrassing challenges for him personally was that of the Odometer scandal. After examining at how Iacocca dealt with the scandal, I found it possible to learn several lessons. This memo looks at how Iacocca’s straightforward handling of the odometer scandal established him as a trusted public figure. Iacocca Prior to the Scandal Lee Iacocca began his career at Ford. Helped Design Ford Mustang Revived the Mercury Brand Brought about the Ford Pinto Lee Iacocca became the Chairman of Chrysler Corporation in 1978. Relevered Chrysler using a Government insured Loan Introduced the Minivan Built Chrysler back to a power player and acquired American Motor Company Odometer Scandal brings about huge Publicity Challenge During the week of June 28, 1987, details of a federal indictment against Chrysler began to surface.
