Geology: study of the earth and the process by which it evolves. Context: the association and relationships b/w archaeological objects that are in the same place. Bishop James Ussher: he calculated the date of creation. Nicolas Steno: father of geology and stratigraphy. - Dissertationis Prodromus Law of Superposition:   in any undisturbed sequence of rocks deposited in layers, the youngest layer is on top and the oldest on bottom, each layer being younger than the one beneath it and older than the one above it.
