As an aureole for a standing person, the vertical vesica seems a logical choice. But sometimes the vesica is horizontal . In such cases we get the impression of an eye, usually representing the omnipresent, all-seeing divinity. Slide 9-108: Eye on Pyramid on Dollar Bill Joseph Campbell writes, "When you're down on the lower levels of the pyramid you will be on either one side or the other. But when you get to the top, the points all come together, and there the eye of God opens."
